Scanning, our secret for success

I recon scanning is the most important lesson in all, but it’s also the most over-looked lesson by some home trainers, even some “professional” trainers. May I share the most important secret for success in our school.

Lets see how a perfect driver looks like– many of our students get over 95% score in their P test, it indicates a very high level of scanning skills. They have a wide scope of what’s happening around real time, they detect the dangers before it even happens; they can logically think about what they see, and after good calculations they choose the safest approach to handle all situations. In short, the top guns can sensitively and timely respond to the fast-changing driving environment properly at all time.

In the scanning lesson, not all of these ideals are required or expected, but all of these good things must come from one very important thing — you can see!

As a comparison, from time to time we teach some learners who are trained somewhere else, they can control the car reasonably smooth, however, they are like driving a car either blindly, or blind-minded. Anyone can tell this type of driving is dangerous. When a habit of not scanning is formed, it takes much more time and efforts to correct.

So the best way to learn driving, is to teach real scanning to a high standard,  right after the steering lesson, just as the RTA/RMS has designed in the log book.
