A “new” fail item in driving tests — moving sideway more than 1 car’s width

From our information network, recently some people got fail item(s) from moving sideway more than 1 car’s width. It’s seen similar to changing lanes so 2x signals and checks are required.

It’s not necessary illegal to move sideway as long as safe to do so, however, signal and check both sides are required. When such move without signal and check both sides, all allowed quota for signal and checks are used up in one go. Any one more signal and/or observation check error would cause a fail item. Here is the way to avoid such fail item:

1) try not to move left or right more than a car’s width, for example, wait for the cars doing reverse parallel parking to finish before moving forward;

2) If it is necessary to move sideway more than 1 car’s width, for example, a double parked truck unloading stuff, make sure you signal right and check right mirror and blind spot, just like changing lane to right, AND, signal left and check left to come back to normal driving position.

There are two other conditions I did not cover, assuming  you are good enough:a) your normal signal and observation checks are very good, max missing 1 0r 2 in the whole test; b) it is safe to move sideway.

I know this might be a bit technical, if you don’t understand, make sure you will by contacting us for quality lessons, before attempting P test.
